Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Sector seeks a Principal Network Communications professional to join our Edwards AFB team in California. The role provides real-time network ground system support during flight operations and maintenance, with responsibility for fault isolation, remediation, and resolution.

You will deploy equipment, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and work with partners to ensure seamless data movement between ground systems and external networks.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED with 9 years relevant Network Communications/Administration experience, or an Associate’s/Bachelor’s/Master’s degree with corresponding years.
• Current CompTIA Security Plus certification.
• Experience with STIG compliance.
• Experience designing and maintaining LAN, WAN, and Cloud based networks.
• Experience configuring, installing, and maintaining network hardware.
• Experience configuring, installing, and maintaining encryption devices (TACLANES).
• Experience in the use of network analysis tools (i.e. WireShark, Opnet, SolarWinds).
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including extended shifts, holidays, weekends, and on-call.

Responsibilities

• Provide real time support for network Ground Systems during flight operations and maintenance.
• Account for, control, and deploy equipment.
• Resolve connectivity and data movement issues between Ground Systems and external networks.
• Perform field integration, troubleshooting, and repair of communications systems in military flight operations.
• Adhere to checklists and procedures and provide redlines when necessary.
• Provide 24/7 on-site support for Ground Communications Interface operations.
• Provide local network management through updates, configurations, and security patches.
• Communicate complex technical issues to local support, MOBs, and REs.
• Support air crew engagement for problem-solving during operations.
• Assist with trend analysis for Responsible Engineers.
• Review supplier design data and define functional test requirements for acceptance and integration.
• Take responsibility for testing, maintenance, and integration of Comms and Networks equipment.
• Collaborate with system admins and onsite personnel to troubleshoot operational issues.
