Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (Engineering/IT/CS/Business).
• 5+ years of NERC compliance experience.
• Experience supporting NERC O&P and/or NERC CIP programs.
• Experience supporting compliance audits and assessments.
• NERC System Operator Certification.
• CISSP, CISA, GICSP, GRID, or similar certifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead NERC O&P and CIP compliance efforts.
• Support for NERC, WECC, and internal audits.
• Review compliance evidence and maintain audit readiness.
• Partner with operations, engineering, cybersecurity, IT, and compliance teams.
• Develop and improve compliance policies, procedures, and workflows.
• Monitor upcoming regulatory changes and assess business impact.
• Assist with self-reports, mitigation plans, corrective actions, and remediation efforts.
• Deliver compliance training and mentor junior team members.
• Provide compliance metrics and executive-level reporting.
• Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on compliance and risk-related matters.
• Help strengthen the organization's long-term compliance program and succession planning.

We are partnering with a leading electric utility to identify a Principal NERC Compliance Specialist who will play a key role in protecting the reliability and security of the power grid. This is a highly visible position for an experienced NERC professional who is ready to serve as a trusted advisor, mentor junior team members, and influence compliance strategy across the organization. The company is seeking someone who can bring immediate expertise in NERC compliance while positioning themselves as a future leader within the compliance organization. The salary for this role is between 90-143k based on the candidates years of experience.

Skills and Requirements
