Job summary

Meta is seeking a principal-level Software Engineer to drive technical strategy and execution across our Systems ML Engineering organization. You will define architectural foundations powering large-scale ML infrastructure, spanning training systems, inference pipelines, ML compilers, and on-device optimization.

You will identify hard cross-system challenges, shape multi-year roadmaps, and amplify impact through AI-native workflows and deep systems expertise.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering with deep specialization in ML systems domains
• Experience delivering large-scale ML training or inference infrastructure across organizations
• Experience leading multi-year cross-functional technical initiatives and driving execution

Responsibilities

• Identify and solve cross-system ML infrastructure challenges across training, inference, compiler optimization, and hardware-software co-design
• Define architectural standards for ML systems enabling consistency and reliability
• Develop and own multi-year roadmaps for ML systems infrastructure
• Lead efforts to reduce engineering toil using AI-native tooling and workflows
• Drive performance improvements across large-scale ML training and inference systems
• Establish invariants and reliability practices to prevent widespread failures in ML pipelines
• Collaborate with research, hardware, and product teams to translate advances into production infrastructure
• Assess emerging AI technologies and influence organizational strategy for competitiveness
• Mentor engineers and foster high craftsmanship in ML systems development
• Communicate architecture and strategy through design documents and roadmaps
