Job summary

Waymo is seeking a Principal Software Engineer Post Training to advance post-training systems on the Waymo Driver, scaling capabilities across the fleet and locations. You will lead the strategy for next-generation post-training on large-scale models and shape how the onboard software evolves with AI advancements.

The role reports to the Onboard organization with a hybrid work schedule and requires deep leadership experience in production ML systems and strong collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• MS in computer science with a focus on machine learning or equivalent degree; PhD preferred.
• 10+ years of leadership experience in a large-scale ML production system.
• Experience leading a post-training system used by 100M+ users in production.

Responsibilities

• Advance state-of-the-art post-training techniques on onboard AI.
• Keep up with post-training research and apply it to Waymo's context.
• Participate in the ML stack leadership community at Waymo.
• Collaborate with ML platforms teams to scale post-training.
• Understand other teams' needs and steer post-training adoption.
