Job Description

The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) team offers opportunities to build and operate large-scale, integrated cloud services in a distributed, multi-tenant environment. OCI is dedicated to providing top-tier cloud products that address major global challenges. We seek skilled, passionate engineers to solve complex problems in distributed systems and virtualized infrastructure. Our engineers influence both technical and business aspects by designing and developing innovative systems for critical customer applications.

OCI Compute provides bare metal and virtual machines, including CPUs and GPUs, with demand rapidly increasing due to advancements in machine learning. Host State Management is a new initiative aimed at improving host lifecycle efficiency, usability, visibility, and repair times for GPU and CPU systems. We need experienced engineers with a distributed systems background to design and implement scalable services for the future of Compute.

Responsibilities

As a software engineer, you will define and evolve standard practices and procedures, developing software for designing, debugging, and maintaining applications or operating systems.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent practical experience
• 6+ years of DevOps experience with large-scale, highly available distributed systems
• Proficiency with Cloud Data Store primitives
• Proficiency in Java programming patterns
• Experience operating distributed services at scale
• Expertise in Linux and operating systems
• Strong problem-solving, communication, ownership, and drive
• Understanding of service metrics, dashboards, KPIs, and alarm systems
• Ability to propose, scope, design, and direct automation and optimization efforts
• Open to on-call support and rotation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Cloud and CI/CD environments
• Proficiency with Terraform, Docker
• Experience with modern build tools and pipelines
• Building multi-tenant, virtualized infrastructure
• Change control management and mature operating processes
• Security expertise, including Identity, SSL, and certificates
• Experience with Databases and Data Stores

Additional Information

US Salary Range: $96,800 to $223,400 annually, with potential bonus and equity.
