Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Baltimore, MD, is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join the Environmental Stress Screening team within the Test Design Solutions Group. You will develop solutions for environmental, thermal, and vibration testing and work with customers to meet requirements.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering with 5 years' experience (or MS with 3), U.S. citizenship, and ability to obtain a Secret clearance. On-site work with travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering; MS with 3 years may substitute.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain/maintain an active U.S. Government Secret Clearance.
• 5 years of experience with design specifications.
• 5 years of proficiency with CAD tools such as Siemens NX or SolidWorks.
• 5 years of experience with test design, cooling and vibration test systems.
• 3 years of experience interpreting electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and support equipment cooling, vibration, and system test designs
• Cross-collaborate with internal and external customers to gather requirements and provide solutions to meet those requirements
• Determine task schedules and levels of effort needed to meet program goals
• Communicate technical capabilities and risks associated with solutions to internal and external stakeholders
