Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems in Clearfield, UT, is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team supporting the RVA program within the SDS division. You will design, analyze, test, and maintain mechanical systems and equipment for government missions, collaborating across disciplines.

The role requires a STEM bachelor's with 5+ years or a Master’s with 3+ years, US citizenship with ability to obtain a Secret clearance, CAD experience (Siemens NX), GD&T, and lifecycle design

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university with 5 years of related experience; or a master’s degree with 3 years of related experience
• Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance
• Requires 2 years demonstrated experience working with external customer to meet program expectations
• Requires experience performing CAD modeling with design tools such as Siemens NX or similar
• Requires experience in Systems Engineering/Life Cycle Design, GD&T, and manufacturing
• Requires experience with MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Preferred: Active Secret Clearance, PE license

Responsibilities

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This position will be located at Clearfield, UT and supports the Remote Visual Assessment (RVA) program in the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) Division. A strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, proficiency in CAD design tools, and experience with mechanical systems and equipment are essential for success in this role.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining mechanical systems, equipment, and infrastructure to support the government agency's mission and operations.
• Apply mechanical engineering principles to design and develop new systems, modify existing systems, and troubleshoot and resolve equipment failures, while ensuring compliance with government regulations and industry standards.
• Perform mechanical analysis, simulations, and testing to validate designs, and will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical systems with other disciplines such as electrical, software, and aerospace engineering.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design drawings, technical reports, and test plans, and will provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and other team members.

Basic Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 5 years of related experience; or a master's degree with 3 years of related experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Active U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance
• Professional Engineer (PE) License
• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or another Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university
• Experience with maintenance and reliability engineering
• Demonstrated experience using the following tools: ANSYS, MATLAB, or equivalents
• Teamcenter/CPLM experience
• Minuteman III Weapon System Knowledge and Experience
• Experience working with government customer
• Experience managing programs/projects

This position's standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Primary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00
