Job summary

QuantumScape is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer, PMTS on the Cell Engineering and Manufacturing Development team to design and scale solid-state Li-metal cells for high-volume production. Lead design, thermal and mechanical simulations, specify components and tooling, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate performance, reliability, and safety across the product life cycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, materials science, or similar field.
• 10 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 8 years with a Master's.
• Proven experience moving mechanical designs from concept to production.
• Experience with CAD packages (Inventor, SolidWorks, CATIA).
• Experience with mechanical and thermal simulations (ANSYS, ABAQUS, COMSOL).
• Experience with lithium-ion batteries preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and scaling of solid-state Li-metal cell designs for manufacturing scale-up.
• Use thermal and mechanical simulations to drive detailed cell architecture design.
• Specify and source cell components, tooling, and manufacturing solutions for scale-up.
• Develop experiments to validate performance, reliability, and safety.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project milestones.
