QuantumScape is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer, PMTS on the Cell Engineering and Manufacturing Development team to design and scale solid-state Li-metal cells for high-volume production. Lead design, thermal and mechanical simulations, specify components and tooling, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate performance, reliability, and safety across the product life cycle.

What we need: Join us on our mission as we transform energy storage to enable a more sustainable future. We are looking to add a Mechanical Engineer, Principal Member of Technical Staff (PMTS) to our Cell Engineering and Manufacturing Development team. This individual will be responsible for designing and scaling QuantumScape’s unique solid-state lithium metal batteries for high volume production. This work includes designing new cell structures, encasings, components, and assembly tools in addition to methodologies to validate the fidelity of these new designs. You must have experience working with electrochemical energy storage devices such as lithium-based batteries or similar technology.

Onsite: This position is required to work onsite 5 days per week to meet the minimum essential duties and requirements of this position. As an on-site R&D and manufacturing operations organization, in-person face to face interaction is essential to building authentic relationships, trust, teamwork, and collaboration.
