Job summary

Newell Brands is seeking a Principal Design Engineer to lead electromechanical product development for durable consumer goods. This senior role guides architecture, platforms, and cross-functional collaboration from concept to production launch.

You will influence program strategy, drive cost and schedule targets, and apply advanced manufacturing and design-for-manufacturing principles. Some travel may be required in a hybrid U.S. setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 10+ years of product-development experience in durable consumer goods.
• Expert-level 3D CAD modeling; Creo preferred.
• Deep knowledge of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, materials and manufacturing processes.
• Experience integrating electronics, motors, sensors, wiring, and power transmission.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering work on new and existing durable consumer products from conception through production launch.
• Define technical specifications and develop timing plans for large-scope programs with senior Program Managers.
• Provide technical leadership across cross-functional teams (Marketing, Industrial Design, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain).
• Lead prototyping, design validation, risk assessment, test planning, and root-cause analysis.
• Develop and review CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and document design-change activity.
