Principal Manufacturing Engineer - Simulation & Digital Factory

We are seeking an experienced and motivated candidate to serve as a Principal Manufacturing Engineer overseeing discrete event simulations and the creation of digital factories. This role provides technical leadership for optimizing Oshkosh’s Vocational segment manufacturing capacities and capabilities. Key projects include integrating lean manufacturing principles, new production technologies, and simulation models to transform our global footprint for profitable growth. This position is vital to Oshkosh’s strategy to improve efficiencies within our product lines and manufacturing processes.

Your Impact
  • Develop discrete event simulation models for future capacity scenarios, analyzing throughput, staffing, utilization, queue sizes, material flow, and KPIs.
  • Manage resources to convert 2D layouts into digital (3D) factory layouts supporting growth strategies.
  • Validate operational efficiency assumptions and support the selection of major capital equipment.
  • Assist in validating new manufacturing technologies and process innovations.
  • Conduct analytical studies aligned with the global manufacturing strategy to optimize factory locations and costs.
  • Lead strategic project reviews, scenario planning, and validation of simulation inputs and outputs.
  • Support digital manufacturing initiatives and technology validation before deployment.
  • Apply project management skills to ensure timely and cost-effective project execution.
  • Utilize factory simulation tools and optimize factory designs through process and traffic flow analysis.
  • Use statistical methodologies to analyze data and support decision-making.
Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering with 5+ years of related experience.
Standout Qualifications
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with FlexSim, Plant Simulation, Simio, Arena, AutoMod, Simul8, or similar software.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.
  • Project management experience, including scope, cost, and schedule management.
  • Collaborative team player with understanding of manufacturing processes such as cutting, bending, machining, welding, coating, and assembly.
  • Knowledge of lean principles and layout optimization software.
  • Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
Pay Range

$91,800.00 - $153,200.00. Compensation varies based on experience, education, and location. We offer a comprehensive rewards package and a people-first culture.
