Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems in Chandler, AZ seeks a Principal / Manufacturing Engineer - Level 2 or Level 3 to join our Launch Systems Manufacturing Integration Team. You will design manufacturing processes, layouts and sequences to optimize production and quality.

The role requires CAD/NX/Costpoint/Teamcenter familiarity, DFM proficiency, and the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Secret clearance. Travel is up to 10% with a 9/80 schedule and strong cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 3 years of related experience (Level 2) or Master's degree with 0 years of related experience
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance
• Experience in creating, supporting & sustaining MES work instructions
• Proficient in DFM
• Experience with manufacturing processes, layouts, tooling design, quality assurance
• Experience adapting machine/equipment design to factory conditions
• Familiarity with CAD, NX, Costpoint and Teamcenter

Responsibilities

• Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling
• Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout
• Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance
• Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions
• May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plans
• Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency
• Develop manufacturing processes applicable to statistical process control
• Provide guidance to engineering regarding Design For Manufacturing (DFM) concepts and requirements
• Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations

Your Role and Impact:

• Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.
• Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
• Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
• Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
• May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plans.
• Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, investigate and initiate corrective actions for problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
• Develop manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control and may develop those techniques.
• Provide guidance to engineering regarding Design For Manufacturing (DFM) concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
• Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

This can be filled as either a Level 2 or Level 3.

Required Qualifications for Level 2:

• Bachelor's degree with 3 years of related experience - OR - Master's degree with 0 years of related experience
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance
• Experienced in creating, supporting & sustaining the use of Manufacturing Engineering System (MES) work instructions
• Proficient in DFM
• Experience with manufacturing processes, procedures work cell layout, production build sequence, tooling design, troubleshooting/corrective action, and quality assurance.
• Experience adapting machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions
• Familiarity working with CAD, NX, Costpoint and Teamcenter

Required Qualifications for Level 3:

• Bachelor's degree with 5 years of related experience - OR - Master's degree with 3 years of related experience
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret clearance
• Experienced in creating, supporting & sustaining the use of Manufacturing Engineering System (MES) work instructions
• Proficient in DFM
• Experience with manufacturing processes, procedures work cell layout, production build sequence, tooling design, troubleshooting/corrective action, and quality assurance.
• Experience adapting machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions
• Familiarity working with CAD, NX, Costpoint and Teamcenter

Preferred Qualifications:

• An active US Government Secret (or above) security clearance a
• A Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering
• Familiarity with Northrop Grumman processes

Primary Level Salary Range: $72,100.00 - $108,100.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00
