Job summary

GE Appliances, a Haier company, seeks a Principal Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to lead control system design for metal stamping presses and related equipment. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in industrial control system design and implementation for metal stamping applications.
  • Proficiency with Rockwell Automation and Siemens platforms: PLCs, HMIs, and networking.
  • Strong understanding of machine safety standards (ANSI/RIA R15.06, NFPA, ISO 13849).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team on dynamic projects.
  • Prior track record leading complex manufacturing engineering initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead control system design for metal stamping presses and related equipment, meeting specs, budgets, and safety.
  • Architect, program, and implement PLCs, HMIs, and networks using Rockwell, with Siemens integration as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine processes and implement best practices.
  • Analyze system performance, recommend improvements, and apply advanced automation and robotics.
  • Conduct machine safety risk assessments and ensure ANSI/NFPA/ISO compliance.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor engineers to deliver high-quality projects on schedule.

How You’ll Create Possibilities
  • Lead Control System Design: Specify and engineer sophisticated control systems for metal stamping presses and related equipment—meeting specifications, budgets, and safety standards.
  • Own the Technology: Architect, program, and implement PLCs, HMIs, and network configurations—primarily using Rockwell Automation products, with flexibility to integrate Siemens solutions.
  • Drive Process Excellence: Partner with cross-functional teams to refine manufacturing processes and ensure alignment with industry best practices.
  • Innovate & Improve: Analyze system performance, recommend improvements, and implement cutting-edge automation and robotics technologies.
  • Champion Safety: Conduct machine safety risk assessments and ensure compliance with ANSI, NFPA, and ISO standards.
  • Mentor & Lead: Provide technical leadership, troubleshoot complex issues, and guide engineering teams to deliver projects on time and at the highest quality.
What You’ll Bring to Our Team
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in industrial control system design and implementation, with specific expertise in metal stamping applications and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Proven proficiency in Rockwell Automation and Siemens platforms, including PLC programming, HMI development, and network configurations.
  • Strong understanding of machine safety standards (e.g., ANSI/RIA R15.06, NFPA 79, ISO 13849) and the ability to apply them to system design.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, adapting to dynamic project demands.
  • Proven track record of leading complex projects and delivering results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Willingness to travel asrequired, typically ~25%.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BS/MS degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience with assembly line design, automation and customized fabrication equipment and manufacturing processes
  • Hands‑o n experience in designing and operation of multiple axis automation equipment and/ or robots
  • Prior NPI program experience
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and MS Project (or equivalent)
