Job summary

Raytheon Technologies is seeking a Principal Engineer – Technical Lead for GEM‑T Manufacturing in Andover, MA. This role requires U.S. citizenship and a Secret security clearance with interim eligibility prior to start.

You will lead a large team of manufacturing engineers, drive technical problem solving, and manage Manufacturing Data Packages while guiding production through changes and improvements.

Qualifications

  • STEM degree and 8+ years of relevant experience, 5+ years in manufacturing.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance (Secret).
  • Experience with GD&T and military/industry standards such as J-STD-001.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools and manufacturing data systems.

  • Act as technical lead for Patriot GEM‑T Manufacturing engineering.
  • Drive strong technical problem solving in support of manufacturing operations.
  • Develop, maintain, and review Manufacturing Data Packages (MDPs).
  • Support a manufacturing area through process troubleshooting and engineering changes to the MDP.
  • Drive continuous improvement using CORE principles and data‑driven decisions.
  • Engage in design development or transition to production at various product phases.

Job description

Manufacturing Engineering provides technical expertise to numerous manufacturing and development programs within Raytheon. The Andover, MA location has over 1 million square feet of manufacturing/production space where products are assembled and tested.

Principal Engineer – Technical Lead for Raytheon GEM‑T Manufacturing. The role requires U.S. citizenship and a U.S. government‑issued security clearance (Secret), with the ability to obtain an interim clearance prior to start.

What You Will Do
  • Act as a technical lead for Patriot GEM‑T Manufacturing Engineering, supporting a large team of manufacturing engineers.
  • Drive strong technical problem solving in support of manufacturing operations.
  • Develop, maintain, and review Manufacturing Data Packages (MDPs) including assembly instructions, workflow/routing, labor standards, and tool/fixture designs.
  • Support a manufacturing area, guiding the production team through process troubleshooting and incorporation of engineering changes into the MDP.
  • Drive continuous improvement through process improvements to improve cycle time, reduce ergonomic risk, automate, and reduce costs using CORE principles and data‑driven decision making.
  • Engage in design development or transition to production at various product phases as the Manufacturing Engineering contributor.
  • Provide real‑time technical support to manufacturers and fabricators, in‑house and supply base.
  • Use manufacturing systems and software, including Microsoft and SAP‑based applications, to maintain production‑relevant information and perform basic data analysis to identify trends within quality data.
  • Apply manufacturing engineering skillsets across the extended value stream to resolve constraints and improve process and product designs.
  • Leverage knowledge and technical skills to influence business decisions and results from new designs to recurring production.
  • Design, control, and improve the producibility of products through collaboration with a multi‑disciplined team.
  • Lead and coordinate projects, efforts, and improvements across the extended value streams.
  • Act as the manufacturing and producibility authority within the program.
  • Communicate and coordinate change reviews and effectivities with CM and IPL, including CNs and Variances.
  • Participate in program ERBs, CCBs, MRBs.
  • Evaluate factory technical issues and escalates as appropriate to program engineering, program leadership, and MPMs.
  • Assists in resolving factory‑to‑factory quality issues, RCCA, etc.
Qualifications
  • Typically requires a STEM degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience, with 5+ years in manufacturing.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Detailed working knowledge of CMES, PRISM and PDM.
  • Experience with technical drawing interpretation, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), configuration management practices, and military and industry standards such as J‑STD‑001.
  • Proficiency in CAD solid modeling tools (preference for CREO/ProE) and/or simulation tools.
  • Experience supporting integration of complex electronic subassemblies in manufacturing engineering.
  • Ability to identify, reduce, and eliminate cost, quality, and schedule constraints through technical engagements.
  • Understanding and utilization of factory and program performance data.
