Job summary

Southern California Edison (SCE) is hiring a Principal Manager Governance, Compliance & Controls to lead governance, risk, compliance, controls, affordability, and operational intelligence for Digital Grid Services. You will establish sources of truth, implement management systems, and drive executive reporting that enhances transparency and accountability across critical technology portfolios.

The role supports hybrid work, with on-site presence at a Rosemead, CA facility and travel up to 10%

  • Seven or more years of supervising a team of direct reports and/or project management.
  • Experience with project control services.

In this role, you will lead the governance, risk, compliance, controls, affordability, and operational intelligence functions that enable executive decision-making across Digital Grid Services. You will establish a single source of truth for Digital Grid Services by implementingmanagement systems, governance frameworks, performance scorecards, and executive reporting capabilities that provide organizational transparency, strengthen accountability, proactively manage risk, optimize capital and O&M investments, and drive operational excellence across one of the company’s most critical technology portfolios.

Responsibilities
  • Provide department wide visibility, governance, affordability discipline, workforce sustainability, risk management, vendor oversight, and operational intelligence.
  • Directs and oversees the activities of multiple project control departments, provide portfolio transparency, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and operational excellence.
  • Delegates responsibility to subordinate managers and provides strategic guidance to ensure effective execution of project control services.
  • Leads planning, budgeting, and implementation efforts across cost estimating, scheduling, performance tracking, and reporting functions.
  • Monitors capital and O&M performance, identifies risks and corrective actions impacting portfolio health.
  • Collaborates with other principal managers and executives to define strategic plans and drive enterprise-wide project control initiatives.
  • Makes final decisions on functional matters, ensuring the achievement of departmental goals and compliance with corporate standards by maintaining executive and business performance scoreboards.
  • Defines organizational structures and supervisory relationships, subject to executive approval, to optimize team performance and accountability.
  • Operates at a conceptual level, shaping key corporate policies and programs related to project governance, controls, and performance management.
  • Makes decisions with significant impact on the success or failure of departmental and company-wide projects, with errors potentially resulting in critical delays and substantial resource expenditure.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Seven or more years of supervising a team of direct reports and/or project management.
  • Experience with project control services.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing capital and O&M portfolios, including budgeting, forecasting, affordability, and financial performance management.
  • Experience developing executive dashboards, scorecards, and operational performance metrics to support leadership decision-making.
  • Experience establishing and maturing enterprise governance processes, decision-making frameworks, and executive review forums across complex organizations.
  • Experience within utility, technology, engineering, or infrastructure organizations supporting large-scale business and technology portfolios.
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset with experience identifying opportunities to enhance processes, governance practices, operational effectiveness, and organizational performance.
  • Proven ability to build strong partnerships and influence outcomes across technology, cybersecurity, compliance, finance, procurement, and business organizations.

Additional Information

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • The primary work location for this position is Rosemead, CA. However, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time at (alternate work location).
  • Position will require up to 10% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
  • Relocation does not apply to this position.
