Roche’s Computational Science and Informatics Pathology Lab Solutions Chapter is a fast-paced, highly interdisciplinary, and technical team with the ambitious goal of transforming pathology through innovative AI algorithms to improve the lives of cancer patients. We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Machine Learning Engineer I in this chapter.

The Opportunity

1. Contribute to the technology roadmap for algorithm development frameworks and related technologies.

2. Collaborate with the Algorithm Development team.

3. Provide technical leadership on the deployment and integration of data processing algorithms.

4. Mentor software developers and other team members.

5. Translate research code and proof of concepts into deployable products.

Who you are

1. You hold a Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field.

2. You have 8+ years of experience in algorithm implementation and modification.

3. You have 8+ years of experience with Python.

4. You have experience with C++.

5. You are familiar with Cloud Computing / AWS.

6. You have experience with Docker/Kubernetes.

7. You possess knowledge of modern software tools and development practices, including agile methodologies and CI/CD.

8. You have contributed to advancements in your field.

9. You can apply systems thinking and develop efficient, scalable software for complex systems.

10. You have prior experience mentoring and providing career development to team members.

11. You have experience working in Medical Devices and regulated environments.

12. You have exposure to traditional computer vision or deep learning methods.

13. A Master’s degree or PhD with relevant experience is preferred.

Additional Information

1. This is a remote, field-based position. Relocation benefits are not provided.

The expected salary range for this position, based on the primary location of California, is $142,500 to $264,700 per year. Actual pay will depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other factors. A discretionary annual bonus may be available, and this position qualifies for benefits detailed at the link below.
