Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Principal Lab Assistant for the department of Neurosurgery at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Rutgers- RWJMS takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all to improve human health. Our faculty are teachers, clinicians, and scientists with unparalleled experience who advance medical innovation and provide patient care informed by the latest research findings. The RWJ Rutgers Medical School is seeking a Principal Lab Assistant to support the PI in basic research on the following topics: 1) designs, tests and evaluates methods and protocols for processing and analyzing neuroimage data including structural CT/ MRI , resting state fMRI, DTI and task-based fMRI. 2) Develops and validates machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to identify changes in brain connectomics associated with the development of post-traumatic epilepsy. This support will entail: assisting with neuroimaging data collection and processing; maintaining regulatory compliance ( IRB and possible IACUC protocols); archiving, organizing and protecting neuroimaging and study subject-related data; writing computational software for data processing as advised and supervised by the PI and post-doctoral researchers in the team.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Performs neuroimaging data analyses with AI/ML and statistical methodologies, and other operations relevant to ongoing investigatory activities of the laboratory.
  • Help recruit study subjects and conduct data acquisition sessions with study subjects.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance ( IRB Protocol, funding agency documentations, etc.).
  • Maintain, organize, and protect complex and sensitive data.
  • Actively collaborates with colleagues to develop research ideas; shares theoretical and technical expertise withcolleagues; collaborates with colleagues to strategize and assess effectiveness of studies.
