Job summary

Oracle Corporation is seeking a systems engineer to join the Ksplice team in Santa Clara. You will work on patching the kernel on the fly, improving tooling, and supporting new releases, with a focus on zero-downtime updates and secure systems.

The role involves developing in Python and C/C, deep kernel-level work, and applying software development best practices including TDD. You will join a distributed team within Oracle's Linux and Virtualization group.

Qualifications

• Expert level C/C programming required.
• Strong Python experience.
• Experience developing the Linux/UNIX kernel a plus.
• Understanding of security issues and defenses in compiled languages.
• Test automation proficiency and experience with TDD.

Responsibilities

• Internal Responsibilities: Apply best practices including TDD; develop and maintain Ksplice components; patch kernels with zero downtime.
• External Responsibilities: Collaborate on tooling improvements; ensure code quality and security in kernel patches; participate in debugging and problem solving.
