Job summary

Dev Technology Group seeks an iOS Mobile Developer to own real-time on-device translation app development, including architecture, performance, and releases for iPhone platforms.

You will integrate on-device ML models, manage background model delivery, and enable peer-to-peer transcript sharing while ensuring Swift concurrency safety on constrained devices. A federal compliance environment is part of the role with telework options for eligible projects.

Qualifications

• 8+ years shipping production iOS apps in Swift.
• Direct experience with low-latency audio processing (AVAudioEngine / AudioUnit).
• Experience integrating ML or signal processing into iOS apps.
• Memory and performance optimization on constrained devices.
• Background transfers using URLSession and robust download/upload systems.
• Experience with protocol-oriented Swift architecture and multi-module packages.
• Ability to work in a federal compliance environment (FISMA experience is a plus).

Responsibilities

• Own iOS app architecture, performance, memory management and releases.

iOS Engineer — On-Device Translation Platform | DHS/ICE Mission Environment

What You Build

A real-time speech translation app that runs entirely on-device: audio capture → speech recognition → translation → text-to-speech, coordinated across multiple services on hardware-constrained iPhones. You'll integrate vendor-provided ML models, manage background OTA model delivery from AWS, build peer-to-peer device communication, and ship to production through a federal accreditation pipeline.

What You Own

• The iOS application: architecture, performance, memory management, and production releases
• Integration of on-device ML inference frameworks (Core ML, ONNX Runtime, WhisperKit) — loading, lifecycle, error recovery — not training the models
• Real-time audio pipeline: AVAudioEngine, voice activity detection, buffer management at hardware-thread priority
• Background model delivery: resumable multi-file downloads over URLSession, state persistence, network transition handling
• Peer-to-peer transcript sharing between devices via MultipeerConnectivity
• Swift concurrency across all of the above without data races, deadlocks, or jetsam kills on 6GB devices

What You Bring

• 8+ years shipping production iOS apps in Swift
• Direct experience with AVAudioEngine or AudioUnit at the hardware callback level
• Track record integrating ML or signal-processing frameworks into iOS apps (Core ML, ONNX, TensorFlow Lite, or similar)
• Proficiency managing memory and performance on constrained devices using Instruments
• Experience with background URLSession and resilient download/upload systemsComfort with protocol-oriented architecture, multi-module Swift packages, and testable service layers
• Ability to hold a clearance and work in a federal compliance environment (FISMA experience is a plus, not a requirement — you'll have security and compliance teammates)

The estimated salary range for this position is $100,000 - $160,000. This salary range is not a guarantee of compensation. The offered salary will be based on factors including relevant experience, geographic location, internal equity, and applicable contractual requirements. *Compensation may fall outside this range when appropriate.
