The Difference You Will Make

As a Finance Team Member, the Principal, Indirect Tax will have broad exposure to various financial systems and processes and will support critical goals and deadlines. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, time management skills, and the ability to confidently support processes within the organization. Experience with online travel applications (OTA), a strong understanding of indirect taxes, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential. This position reports to the Global Director of Indirect Tax.

A Typical Day
  • Conduct comprehensive research on tax regulations and policies affecting the hotel and hospitality industry, especially in relation to online travel agents/platforms.
  • Analyze and interpret tax laws to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide insights and recommendations related to hotels.
  • Prepare and review tax-related documentation and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable laws.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and their potential impact on the hotel sector.
  • Assist in the development of tax strategies that align with organizational goals.
  • Support the tax team in audits, inquiries, and correspondence with tax authorities.
Your Expertise
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Strong knowledge of indirect taxes such as VAT, GST, Sales Tax, and Tourist Tax, especially those relevant to the hotel industry and online travel agents.
  • Experience in tax research, legal analysis, and compliance.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey complex tax concepts clearly.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Previous experience in the OTA or hospitality industry is preferred.
  • Familiarity with hotel financial statements and operations is preferred.
  • Membership in a state bar association is preferred.
Your Location

This position is US - Remote Eligible. You may need to work occasionally at an Airbnb office or attend offsites, as agreed with your manager. How We'll Take Care Of You

The actual pay depends on various factors such as experience, skills, and market conditions. The pay range for this role is $160,000—$200,000 USD and may include bonuses, equity, benefits, and Travel Credits.
