Job summary

American Electric Power seeks an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to define design basis for I&C systems across gas, coal, and renewables, collaborating with AE and EPC partners. The role focuses on OT/IT integration, cybersecurity, and ensuring equipment meets stringent specs.

You will interact with OEMs throughout RFx processes and help shape retrofit and new-generation projects with AE/EPC services. On-site collaboration across multiple power generation sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience with gas, coal, and renewable energy projects.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation (DES, SAMA diagrams, P&IDs).
• Knowledge of OT/IT integration and cybersecurity practices.
• Proficiency with data analysis to improve system performance.
• Familiarity with network equipment and engineering documentation tools.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with AE and EPC firms to define design basis for I&C systems.
• Ensure OT/IT systems meet design requirements and best practices.
• Manage OT network and devices for system integration.
• Implement cybersecurity measures for control systems.
• Engage with OEMs during RFx processes to ensure specs compliance.
• Support development of retrofit and self-build AE/EPC proposals.
