Description

NiSource is seeking a Principal Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) Partner to support the organization in the integration and sustainment of its HOP operating philosophy. This role is pivotal in reducing NiSource-wide risk and hazard exposure while also ensuring a healthy safety culture is sustained and operational learning processes work to drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and provide subject matter expertise in the development of HOP curriculum.
  • Lead formal and informal virtual and in-person HOP training and reinforcement activities within all NiSource business units.
  • Provide real-time coaching and reinforcement to management and front-line workers on the proper application of HOP Principles, Error Reduction Tools, and desired safe behaviors.
  • Lead the integration of HOP principles, concepts, tools, and techniques into technical training programs, leadership development programs, employee onboarding, general employee training, and operations daily huddles and leadership briefings.
  • Engage management and front-line employees in vertical HOP integration efforts to ensure adequate systems are in place for high-risk work activities.
  • Facilitate structured Learning Teams to explore everyday operations (work as done) or in response to an event to identify system vulnerabilities and improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct HOP field observations and on-site coaching within assigned business units. When system deficiencies are identified, communicate to leadership and leverage the Corrective Action Program.
  • Partner with key stakeholders such as Asset and Risk Management, Organizational Change Management, Process Safety, and Technical Training in the design and execution of cultural change programs to drive adoption of human and organizational performance improvements.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience working in human and organizational performance.
  • 5+ years of experience in curriculum development and training.
  • 5+ years of experience coaching leadership and front-line field employees.
  • 3+ years of experience leading causal evaluations and operational learning teams.
  • Must be ok with 50% travel requirement: mix of local and out of state travel. One-to-three weeks per month depending on operational needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Utility industry experience.
  • Experience in Gas, Electric and Generation.
  • Strong leadership, communications, and interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate with all levels of employees, customers and outside professionals.
