Job summary

MKS Instruments, Inc. in Milpitas, CA is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer - High-Speed Optoelectronics & RF Systems to lead cross‑functional teams in the architecture, design and development of next‑generation optoelectronic test systems.

You will drive system‑level tradeoffs, develop RF and microwave circuits up to 100 GHz, and oversee receiver chains with photodiodes, TIAs and distributed amplifiers. Travel up to 10% is required.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering
• 15+ years of experience in developing complex electronic products
• Deep expertise in analog circuit design
• Strong RF and high‑speed electronics design experience
• Demonstrated experience designing photodiode‑based receiver systems
• Experience with optical design and concepts
• Experience with optoelectronic hardware development
• Strong proficiency with circuit simulation and modeling tools
• Expertise in laboratory characterization, debugging, and root‑cause analysis
• Track record of bringing complex products from concept through production

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for the development of complex optoelectronic products and subsystems
• Perform system‑level tradeoff analyses involving performance, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and schedule
• Support technology roadmaps and identify emerging technologies relevant to future products
• Develop RF and microwave circuits from DC to 100 GHz and beyond
• Design low‑noise signal conditioning, amplification, control, and power management circuits
• Perform signal integrity, power integrity, and electromagnetic compatibility analyses
• Design and characterize photodiode‑based receiver chains, including optics, photodiodes, TIAs, distributed amplifiers, and receiver front‑end electronics
• HFSS‑based analog simulations and high‑speed signal‑path analysis
• Travel Requirements: Up to 10% of Travel is required
