Your Opportunity

As a Principal, Healthcare Mechanical Engineering, you must bring deep knowledge and thought leadership that is client-facing. This role focuses on experience and relationships within the A/E industry to contribute to the strategic and tactical leadership of the Stantec Health Sector engineering discipline, building and leading the health sector engineering practice in the Phoenix area. Responsibilities include leadership in strategic projects, advancing the engineering practice, team growth, business development, and collaboration across disciplines to position Stantec as an industry innovator.

Your Key Responsibilities
  1. Business Development/Marketing – approximately 25% of time
    • Build Stantec’s Health Sector Engineering practice in the Sacramento area.
    • Engage with architectural, mechanical, and electrical engineering leaders across US West and North America.
    • Develop and execute strategic business and marketing plans aligned with regional and global goals.
    • Sustain and grow revenue, achieve operational metrics, and develop industry relationships.
    • Assist with business planning, proposal development, and industry engagement.
    • Monitor industry trends and foster a high-performance culture through mentoring.
  2. People and Practice Management – approximately 15% of time
    • Hire and lead a team of engineering project managers, designers, and CAD/Revit staff.
    • Mentor team members, forecast staffing needs, and ensure technical excellence and quality standards.
  3. Project Design and Delivery – approximately 50% of time
    • Lead healthcare projects from planning to delivery, ensuring timeliness, scope, and budget adherence.
    • Define project scope, develop plans, and collaborate with stakeholders.
    • Manage project resources, monitor progress, and mitigate risks.
    • Oversee technical design, including HVAC, plumbing, and medical gas systems.
  4. Technical Leadership – approximately 10% of time
    • Stay current with industry and regulatory changes, disseminate knowledge, and oversee standards and best practices.
    • Support staff education, certification, and ongoing technical development.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • 15+ years of project and team management in healthcare, with a successful project delivery record.
  • Strong leadership, client service, and business development skills.
  • Deep technical knowledge of healthcare building systems and codes.
  • Experience with sustainable design principles and various construction delivery methods.
  • Professional Engineering license, with additional certifications like LEED AP or ASHRAE HFDP preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
Additional Information
  • Salary Range: $137,300 - $205,900, based on experience and location.
  • Location: Sacramento/Northern California, with consideration for individual qualifications and work location.
  • Role may involve additional duties as assigned.
