Job summary

CyberCoders in San Jose, CA seeks a senior hardware engineer to lead development of embedded computing systems from concept to production. You will own architecture decisions, write specs, develop validation plans, and guide cross-functional reviews with firmware, software, and program teams.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years of hands-on hardware experience, strong PCB design with Cadence OrCAD/Allegro, and deep knowledge of PCIe, DDR4/5, USB, I2C/ SPI/UART; lab skills are required.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hardware engineering experience, from concept to mass production.
• Proven PCB design with Cadence OrCAD/Allegro and SI analysis.
• Deep knowledge of PCIe, DDR4/5, USB, Display, and I2C/SMBus/SPI/UART.
• Experience with x86 and/or ARM server architecture and subsystems.
• Hands-on lab proficiency with oscilloscopes and analyzers.
• Nice to have: firmware/UEFI, embedded Linux, Python/Bash scripts, EMC testing.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of hands-on hardware engineering experience, including at least one full product lifecycle from concept to mass production
• Proven PCB design skills: schematic capture (Cadence OrCAD/Allegro), layout direction, and signal integrity analysis
• Deep knowledge of high-speed interfaces - PCIe, DDR4/5, USB, Display, and Network - and low-speed protocols (I2C, SMBus, SPI, UART)
• Experience with x86 and/or ARM server architecture and subsystem design (power sequencing, thermal, management controllers)
• Hands-on lab proficiency: oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, and design validation methodologies
• Nice to have
  • Familiarity with DC-DC step-down converter and power rail design
  • Exposure to firmware, UEFI/BIOS, or embedded Linux environments
  • Scripting skills (Python, Bash, or similar) for test automation or data analysis
  • Experience with compliance or pre-compliance EMC testing

What You'll Be Doing:

• Lead hardware development from concept to production on embedded computing system products, owning architecture decisions and driving alignment across Layout, Mechanical, and SI teams
• Author hardware specifications and develop comprehensive test and validation plans that become the team standard
• Capture and review schematics in Cadence OrCAD, providing detailed PCB layout guidance to ensure first-pass success
• Execute board bring-up and engineering validation in the lab, diagnosing and resolving signal integrity, power, and firmware interaction issues
• Drive hardware builds and component procurement, coordinating with supply chain to keep schedules on track
• Serve as the technical point of contact in cross-functional reviews, translating hardware constraints clearly for firmware, software, and program teams
• Own debug cycles end-to-end, from scope and analyzer & other lab work through root-cause documentation and corrective action
