Job Description: Principal Geospatial Scientist (Data Management)
The Principal Geospatial Scientist will lead enterprise-level geospatial data management initiatives for DHS.Key Responsibilities
- Oversee geospatial data acquisition, integration, and governance.
- Establish and enforce metadata and QA/QC standards.
- Design and optimize geospatial data models.
- Coordinate with interagency partners for data sharing and interoperability.
- Lead research into emerging geospatial technologies.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, or related field.
- 12+ years in geospatial data management.
- 16+ years of experience required without a Bachelor’s or Masters degree
- Expertise with ArcGIS Enterprise, PostgreSQL/PostGIS.
- Proven leadership in large-scale data initiatives.
- Knowledge of FGDC and DHS metadata standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Publications or presentations in geospatial science forums.
- Experience with cloud-based geospatial environments.
Security Clearance
- The selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DHS suitability determination, complete the Entry on Duty (EOD) process, and pass required background checks. U.S. citizenship is required.
