The Principal Geospatial Scientist will lead enterprise-level geospatial data management initiatives for DHS.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee geospatial data acquisition, integration, and governance.
• Establish and enforce metadata and QA/QC standards.
• Design and optimize geospatial data models.
• Coordinate with interagency partners for data sharing and interoperability.
• Lead research into emerging geospatial technologies.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, or related field.
• 12+ years in geospatial data management.

• 16+ years of experience required without a Bachelor’s or Masters degree
• Expertise with ArcGIS Enterprise, PostgreSQL/PostGIS.
• Proven leadership in large-scale data initiatives.
• Knowledge of FGDC and DHS metadata standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• Publications or presentations in geospatial science forums.
• Experience with cloud-based geospatial environments.

Security Clearance

• The selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DHS suitability determination, complete the Entry on Duty (EOD) process, and pass required background checks. U.S. citizenship is required.
