Job summary

Rocket Lab is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to design and lead flight software for spacecraft in Space Systems, including development for Tranche 3 of the SDA’s Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture. The role requires senior embedded software experience and ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering.
• 12+ years of experience in embedded software engineering.
• Experience in designing complex multithreaded application.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Play a key role supporting the development of payload flight software for Space Systems programs.
• Focus on deployment of novel algorithms into austere environments on SWaP-constrained sensor systems.
• Lead cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and deliver integrated solutions.
• Provide technical leadership in all aspects of software design and development from requirements to deployment.
• Define and influence software architecture, interfaces, and technical standards for scalable solutions.
• Drive core software fundamentals of performance-oriented programming across accelerator technologies.
• Mentor engineers and foster engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
• Support technical planning, estimation, risk identification, dependencies, and milestone delivery.
