Job summary

HYVE Solutions seeks a Principal firmware engineer to own the OpenBMC-based BMC architecture for AI/GPU server platforms. You will drive manageability, telemetry, and platform security across EVT/DVT/PVT phases, collaborating with hardware teams and hyperscaler customers.

You will lead bring-up and debugging, implement secure boot and firmware updates, and deliver tooling for factory provisioning and fleet deployment while mentoring engineers and representing firmware to executives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of embedded/firmware development experience, including significant BMC/platform management firmware work and hands-on OpenBMC development.
  • Proven delivery of server-class firmware into production; hyperscale experience preferred.
  • Strong C/C++ and embedded Linux skills; deep knowledge of OpenBMC, Redfish, IPMI, I2C/I3C, PMBus, SPI, and platform management interfaces; experience with secure boot, firmware update, and RoT.
  • Solid understanding of server hardware, power/thermal control loops, and the interaction of firmware with BIOS, hardware, and manufacturing flows.
  • Able to lead cross-functional debug, drive architecture decisions, and communicate effectively with hardware teams, customers, and executives.

Responsibilities

  • BMC firmware architecture. Define and own the OpenBMC-based firmware architecture for AI/GPU server platforms, including manageability stack, Redfish interfaces, IPMI, and platform telemetry.
  • Platform control and monitoring. Develop and integrate power, thermal, fan-control, and sensor monitoring firmware in close collaboration with power delivery and thermal teams.
  • Security and reliability. Implement secure boot, firmware update/recovery, RoT integration, and robust error handling to meet hyperscaler security and reliability requirements.
  • Bring-up and debug. Lead firmware bring-up across EVT/DVT/PVT, debug at board and system level, and drive root-cause analysis and permanent fixes across firmware, hardware, and system-integration domains.
  • Manufacturing and deployment enablement. Deliver firmware tooling and features for factory provisioning, diagnostics, and fleet deployment, and support field issue resolution at scale.
  • Technical leadership. Set firmware development methodology, review code, and mentor engineers; represent firmware architecture to customers and internal executives.

Platform management firmware is essential to the reliability, serviceability, and manageability of hyperscale AI servers. This Principal-level role owns BMC firmware architecture and development- built on OpenBMC for Hyve's next-generation AI and compute server platforms, spanning manageability, telemetry, power/thermal control, security, and manufacturing enablement in close partnership with hardware and Hyperscaler customers.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Compensation: $214,000 to $290,000
