Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in Finance/Accounting or 5+ years with a Master's Degree.

A Day in the Life

A key member of the Global Operations and Supply Chain (GOSC) FP&A Volume team at Medtronic, with primary responsibility for partnering with the EMEA manufacturing platform. The Principal Financial Analyst is responsible for planning, analyzing, and reporting on volume KPIs, while providing coaching and mentorship to team members. This position reports to the Financial Planning & Analysis Senior Manager.

A Day in The Life Of:
  • Serve as the key FP&A contact for manufacturing sites across the EMEA region, focusing on volume KPIs, as part of the GOSC FP&A Volume Team.
  • Lead the consolidation, review, and analysis of weekly volume KPIs for EMEA manufacturing sites. Investigate drivers of variances (e.g., absorption, product mix) and escalate concerns proactively.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and training to other Volume Team members. Review their work and support their development and quality outcomes.
  • Partner with Data & Analytics teams to ensure alignment between online reporting tools (e.g., Weekly Volume Absorption dashboards) and weekly EMEA volume reporting. Analyze and deliver insights from reports.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Site Operations & Finance partners and Global Manufacturing FP&A teams to create analyses, processes, and presentation content that transform data into actionable insights influencing financial performance.
  • Act as a strategic business partner to EMEA Platform sites, delivering insights and understanding of volume drivers, absorption trends, earned hours, and production units.
  • Lead volume assumption planning for the Annual Operating Plan and quarterly forecasts, owning detailed volume KPI planning in tools like OneStream.
  • Identify and communicate risks and opportunities in the forecast by analyzing expected changes and emerging trends.
  • Support the development of best practices in Volume KPI planning, analysis, and reporting.
  • Lead initiatives to identify, recommend, and implement process improvements and simplifications.
  • Complete ad-hoc analysis and data requests for internal customers as needed.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree with 7+ years of experience in Finance and/or Accounting, or a Master’s Degree with 5+ years.
  • Professional Accountancy qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, CPA, CIMA).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders, including senior leadership.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, especially variance analysis.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities.
  • Effective collaboration skills across time zones and geographies.
  • Problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Project management and change management skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with BI and reporting systems is advantageous.
  • Ability to navigate multiple financial systems, ERPs, and currencies.
  • Manufacturing Finance support and/or Cost Accounting experience is preferred, focusing on FP&A.
