Job summary

Medtronic is seeking a Principal Financial Analyst to serve as a strategic finance partner to the Cardiac Diagnostics & Services Marketing organization. You will deliver financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and analysis to support commercial strategies, investments, and operational execution.

The role requires leading planning cycles, month-end close, and developing financial models to guide decisions. Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams and deep knowledge of GAAP is expected.

  • Experience in financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Develop financial models and translate financial data into business insights.
  • Partner with business leaders to support strategic and operational decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Marketing, Strategy, and Innovation leadership for financial analysis and decision support.
  • Lead FP&A activities including planning, forecasting, and integrated business planning.
  • Manage month-end and quarter-end close, reporting, variance analysis, and performance reviews.
  • Develop models to evaluate performance, trends, margins, and investments.
  • Analyze P&L results, identify risks/opportunities, and provide improvement recommendations.
  • Support leadership reviews with consolidated reporting and analytics.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities and resource allocation.
  • Drive forecasting accuracy and reporting efficiency.

A Day in the Life

The Electrophysiology Therapies (EPT) Finance team supports the Cardiac Diagnostics & Services (CDS) business through financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and strategic decision support. The team partners closely with Marketing, Strategy, and Innovation leadership to evaluate business performance, support investment decisions, and drive execution against commercial and strategic priorities. As a Principal Financial Analyst, you will serve as a strategic finance partner to the Cardiac Diagnostics & Services Marketing organization. You will provide financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and analytical support to business leaders while delivering insights that support commercial strategies, investment decisions, and operational execution.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Partner with Marketing, Strategy, and Innovation leadership to provide financial analysis and decision support.
  • Lead financial planning, forecasting, annual operating plan (AOP), strategic planning, and integrated business planning activities.
  • Execute month-end and quarter-end close activities, including reporting, variance analysis, and performance reviews.
  • Develop financial models to evaluate business performance, market trends, gross margin initiatives, and strategic investments.
  • Analyze profit and loss (P&L) results, identify risks and opportunities, and provide recommendations to improve financial performance.
  • Support business reviews and leadership presentations through consolidated reporting, analytics, and financial insights.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities, project costs, and business initiatives while providing recommendations to support resource allocation decisions.
  • Drive process improvements that enhance forecasting accuracy, reporting efficiency, and financial decision support.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of finance or accounting experience OR advanced degree and 5+ years of finance or accounting experience.
  • Experience in financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Experience developing financial models and translating financial data into business insights.
  • Experience partnering with business leaders to support strategic and operational decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Experience supporting commercial, marketing, strategy, or business development organizations.
  • Experience with SAP, OneStream, Power BI, or similar financial reporting and planning systems.
  • Knowledge of United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), capital policies, or project accounting practices.
  • Experience working within a global or highly matrixed organization.
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$110,400.00 - $165,600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
