The Electrical Analysis - Northeast section of the Materials & Process Engineering Department is seeking an individual to fulfill the role of a Principal Electrical Failure Analysis Engineer. This position will support programs and their mission of performing electrical component evaluations and root cause failure analysis. This position requires the knowledge and understanding of electrical schematics, circuit analysis, digital processing, RF analysis, die level analysis, and the materials of electrical components (metal wire bonding, substrates, solder, adhesives, & encapsulants). The devices evaluated can range from simple passive devices to complex microcircuits as well as cables, connectors, motors, etc.

What You Will Do:

  • Performing data entry to log in all incoming work for the entire section

  • Lead Administrator for our database which contains historical technical work

  • Lead Engineer supporting the Incoming Inspection process

  • Lead Engineer supporting the Part Recovery and Trending operation

  • Performing root cause failure analysis and writing detailed final reports

  • Maintain and develop test instructions for the section

  • Maintain and organize recipes for the Destructive Physical Analysis of PEMs

  • Maintain an inventory of available test fixtures

  • Maintain an inventory of all lab equipment

  • Provide metrics and cost estimates

  • Lead Engineer to coordinate transportation of hardware between labs

  • Lead Engineer to coordinate procurement requests

  • Participate in the capital equipment process

  • Researching new failure analysis capabilities and techniques

  • Lead Engineer maintaining the chemical inventory for the section

  • Lead Engineer coordinating metrology of required test equipment

  • Participate and organize audit schedules

  • Lead Engineer to ensure ESD compliance within the lab

  • Participate in the report review and approval process

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience. In absence of a degree, 12+ years of experience. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience

  • Experience in electronic component failure analysis

  • Experience in lab management

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Knowledge of electrical component evaluations and root cause failure analysis

  • Familiarity with component data sheets and drawings

  • Data collection and presentation skills to write a cogent report, supporting the analysis conclusion and if necessary, present the data and findings

  • Technical working knowledge of electrical components and their application

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
