Job Title: Senior Estimator
Responsible for leading the organization, development, implementation, maintenance, and accountability of total project controls, financial analysis, or estimating applications. Designed to provide management with the capability to maintain planning, scheduling, financial analysis, and cost control throughout the lifecycle of complex or unique projects.
Responsible for the overall implementation and direction of estimating functions to ensure timely and accurate responses to client, project management, departmental, and company requirements.
Activities include, but are not limited to:
- Developing or overseeing the preparation of comprehensive and accurate cost estimates for complex facilities or processes, applying advanced principles and concepts.
- Leading the development of total project estimates and the Project Estimate Basis, utilizing estimating methods and the expertise of project professionals.
- Leading customers to the best systems and methods for their application, requiring sales ability, technical aptitude, and strong estimation and construction management skills.
- Developing estimating systems, processes, guidelines, and procedures, and evaluating new techniques and software.
- Supervising estimate preparations, ensuring all activity scopes are understood and priced, including technical uncertainties and incomplete designs.
- Reviewing and approving productivity factors, indirect costs, G&A costs, and contingency analyses.
- Organizing and coordinating estimating activities across departments, establishing a professional estimating team.
- Reviewing and preparing estimates, cost studies, and presentations; utilizing parametric estimating techniques.
- Providing a positive environment that encourages growth among departmental personnel.
- Preparing Estimate Risk Analyses and evaluating contingencies based on scope, exposures, and uncertainties.
- Directing the development of quality material, labor, and subcontract take-offs, and coordinating with Engineering, Purchasing, Construction, and Maintenance.
- Serving as an intra-corporate expert on estimating methods and systems, with frequent interactions with leadership and project teams.
- Conducting estimate reviews and developing training programs for estimating personnel.
- Ensuring the turnover of completed estimates to the Project Control team.
Required Qualifications: Education & Experience
Education: A Master's degree in business, construction management, technical, engineering, or related field with 8 years of practical experience; or a Bachelor's degree with 10 years of experience; or an Associate's degree with 13 years; or a high school diploma with 17 years of relevant experience.
Experience/Skills:
- Strong personal computer skills.
- Expert proficiency in automated accounting, cost management, scheduling, and estimating systems.
- Experience with Site Business systems Estimating Specialty.
- Knowledge of construction techniques, engineering, procurement, and business practices.
- Experience in multiple disciplines of estimating, coordination with technical personnel, and analysis of escalation and contingency.
