Dakota County is seeking a Principal Engineering Specialist in Empire, MN to lead county road, trail, and bridge projects. You will manage contracts, coordinate with teams, and ensure adherence to plans and specs while applying CAD and GIS skills.

Qualifications

One year of specialized or technical training in Civil Engineering or Surveying plus 4 years highway related experience.
Associate degree or two-year certificate in Civil Engineering fields with 3 years relevant experience.
Equivalent education/experience combination totaling five years in highway construction/survey work.

Responsibilities

Serve as project manager on county road, trail and bridge construction projects.
Oversee progress and construction methods to meet specifications and resolve issues.
Interpret plans, calculate field notes, and address field problems with staff.
Provide technical leadership and mentor department staff on projects.
