Job summary

Cloudflare seeks a Principal Engineer to shape threat detection across its global network. You will architect systems, analyze adversaries, and drive edge and Kubernetes-based mitigations. You work across Threat Intelligence, Trust & Safety, Product, and Legal to deliver scalable security solutions.

You bring deep Go/TypeScript skills, cloud-scale experience, and a track record of shipping disruptive security capabilities. Equity, on-call ownership, and AI-enhanced tooling are part of the role.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of cyber security experience building systems to present adversarial trends and techniques.
• 10+ years building and operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
• Deep proficiency in Go and/or TypeScript, with deployment in Kubernetes or edge platforms.
• Experience with threat intelligence, adversarial analysis, or detection engineering.
• Strong architectural judgment across teams, codebases, and problem domains.

Responsibilities

• Drive architectural direction and technical strategy across Cloudforce One engineering.
• Identify bottlenecks and replace with faster, more reliable systems.
• Design and operate data pipelines to collect, analyze, and expose threat intelligence at scale.
• Collaborate with Threat Intelligence researchers, Trust & Safety, Product, Legal, and other teams.
• Mentor engineers and champion AI workflows to accelerate threat hunting and detection engineering.
• Own on-call rotations and incident response for critical systems.
