Yes, up to 10% of time.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and implement testing methods and optical/mechanical equipment.
  • Plan and arrange labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices.
  • Provide test area parameters for sample testing and specify tests to be performed.
  • Compile data and define changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements.
  • Test all customer samples and perform special tests that cannot be performed in the test area.
  • Review, interpret, and analyze formal and informal requirements.
Qualifications
  • Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in Optics/Photonics.
  • General knowledge of related disciplines.
  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex, difficult problems—solutions that are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Work with general direction; independently determine and develop solution approach.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Optics/Photonics or related STEM field with at least 5 years of relevant work experience; or Master’s degree with 3+ years; or PhD with 1 year.
  • Experience with COTS equipment used in laser manufacturing laboratories (laser diodes, energy/pulse width detection, optical devices, mounts, etc.).
  • Experience with optical design software (Zemax, CodeV, etc.).
  • U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with engineering development tools such as CAD and Optical Design.
  • Exposure to laser measurement/analysis techniques.
  • Laboratory experience with VIS, SWIR, MWIR, LWIR camera imaging parameters such as MRC and MRTD.
  • Current DoD Secret clearance.

Salary

Primary Level Salary Range: $89,400 – $134,200 per year.

Salary determination considers scope and responsibilities, experience, education, skills and market conditions. Eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and long‑term incentives for VP/Director positions.
