Job summary

Reuters is seeking a Principal Engineer focusing on Security & Compliance to steer the architecture for SOC 2, ISO 27001/42001, HIPAA, and FedRAMP across CoCounsel infrastructure and data pipelines.

You will lead cross-functional teams with Security, Legal, Privacy, and Product to translate regulatory requirements into scalable engineering roadmaps, while mentoring engineers and defining auditable controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in CS/Engineering.
• Hands-on experience building or operating production systems with SOC 2, ISO 27001, and HIPAA.
• Experience with FedRAMP authorization processes at Moderate/High baseline.
• Backend engineering in Python/Java/Go on major cloud providers.

Responsibilities

• Own the compliance architecture across SOC 2, ISO 27001/42001, HIPAA, and FedRAMP.
• Build compliance as code with automated evidence collection and policy-as-code.
• Design encryption, key management, data residency, and audit logging for scalable systems.
• Partner with Security, Legal, Privacy, and Product to translate requirements into roadmaps.
• Establish SLOs, observability, and incident response for compliance systems.
