Qualifications

  • 15+ years of network hardware design experience.
  • 10+ years of network experience at the system level.
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering required; M.S.E.E. preferred.
  • Successful experience architecting and delivering network products to market.
  • Excellent customer presentation skills interfacing with OEMs and hyperscale customers.
  • Broad knowledge of current digital and analog components.
  • Successful New Product Introduction (NPI) launch experience.

Responsibilities

  • Define complex networking platform solutions and lead a multidisciplinary team to implementation.
  • Engage extensively through EVT, phasing out thereafter, ensuring overall design quality metrics are met.
  • Manage a small supporting team, driving goals and objectives within a broader collaborative environment.
  • Develop and maintain close technical relationships with suppliers/partners on roadmaps and technologies.
  • Lead the technical response for RFQs and deliver SRDs, requirement compliance assessments, and technical proposals.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface between Celestica and customers on technical escalation.
  • Provide technical support to business development teams to win new business.
  • Participate in selection/hiring of design team resources; identify process improvements.
  • Participate in standards committees and industry groups; present technical information.

Job Overview

This position is for a Principal Engineer / Networking System Architect. As a system architect, you will define the architecture of network products and systems, lead new technology research, study market trends, interface with customers, and lead Celestica’s design team in the networking product space. Although the position is primarily hardware‑based, the candidate must also interface with software/firmware, mechanical, thermal, layout, SI, and test teams as part of system architecture. You must have strong knowledge in network product design across a variety of market segments, including enterprise access, data center infrastructure, and telco data communications. Experience with implementation considerations and trade‑offs for cost‑effective lower‑end systems up to complex modular high‑performance network chassis systems is required.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver System Requirements Documents (SRD), requirement compliance assessments, and technical proposals.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface between Celestica and customers, particularly in technical escalation.
  • Provide technical support to business development teams to assist in winning new business.
  • Participate in the selection and hiring of design team resources as required.
  • Identify and champion process improvement efforts as needed.
  • Participate in standards committees and industry groups as assigned.
  • Prepare and present technical presentations to customers, industry groups, and trade shows.
  • Stay current on industry trends and future technology and market opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
  • Experience with leading technologies in network products, including:
    • CPU devices such as Intel & AMD x86 embedded processors and ARM embedded processors
    • NPU devices including Broadcom families (Trident, Tomahawk, Jericho, Ramon) and alternative families such as NVIDIA, Cisco, and Marvell
    • High‑speed design, including PCB materials, SerDes technology (224/448G), connectors, cable, and parasitic challenges
    • Network performance characteristics and related device optimization features
    • Power devices such as multi‑stage and near‑load delivery
    • Advanced assembly techniques and challenges affecting design
    • Optics devices and technology – trade‑offs and trends
    • Mechanical design challenges/flexibility as it impacts architecture
  • Minimum of 15 years of network hardware design experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of network experience at the system level.
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering required; M.S.E.E. preferred.
  • Successful experience architecting and delivering network products to market.
  • Excellent customer presentation skills. Interface and interact with large OEM and hyperscale customers on ongoing product‑related issues and new product design concepts.
  • Broad knowledge of current digital and analog components.
  • Successful New Product Introduction (NPI) launch experience.
Desired Skills
  • Experience working with Asian‑based design teams.
  • 5 years of direct line functional management experience.
  • Prior participation in industry groups and associations.
  • System‑level integration, interoperability, and test experience.
  • System‑level manufacturing test experience.

The successful candidate will be a self‑motivated individual capable of working with minimal supervision in a dynamic team environment. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with members of other teams, departments, and clients are essential, as a high degree of liaison is required.

Travel
  • International travel required, approximately 4‑6 trips per year.
  • Domestic travel to support customer and internal meetings as required.
Salary

$171,000 - $268,000

This salary range is an estimate by the Company and may change based on several factors, including but not limited to changes in duties, credentials, experience, or geographic jurisdiction.
