Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior engineering leader to provide technical leadership, mentorship and strategic direction for complex programs and projects. The role requires translating engineering theory into actionable plans for senior leadership while driving innovation across disciplines.

The candidate will oversee program planning, risk assessment, and cross-functional collaboration, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related engineering discipline with 10 years of experience; OR Master’s degree with 8 years; OR PhD with 6 years
• Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices
• Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders, verbally and in writing
• Willingness to travel domestically up to 20% and internationally up to 50%

Job description

• Provide technical leadership, guidance, expertise and mentorship for engineering projects, technical challenges and programs
• Define and drive leading practices and transfer technical expertise and knowledge
• Contribute subject matter expertise to improve project and program outcomes
• Plan, organize and guide complex programs and activities
• Interpret engineering theory and practice for senior leadership to support decision-making
• Identify solutions and make recommendations based on technical expertise
• Lead, review and investigate assigned engineering projects and technical challenges within and across disciplines
• Align engineering efforts with organizational strategic goals and contribute to long-term technical strategies
• Communicate to influence and change strategy and execution with technical and non-technical audiences
• Solve challenging technical problems and drive valuable outcomes
• Participate in industry events, conferences and training; recommend practices or program changes based on state-of-practice developments
• Lead, collaborate with and influence site and project management on engineering strategy and execution
• Promote innovation and continuous improvement in engineering processes, products and systems; evaluate readiness, suitability and risk
• Provide input for strategic planning and budgeting for designated engineering areas
• Mentor, coach and guide developing talent across multiple disciplines
• Perform other duties as requested

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related engineering discipline and ten (10) years of experience in related engineering field; OR Master’s degree and eight (8) years; OR PhD and six (6) years
• Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices of engineering
• Ability to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders, verbally and in writing
• Ability to travel domestically up to 20% and internationally up to 50%
• Mandatory pre-employment drug testing as allowed by applicable laws
• Preferred: Experience working in commercial or industrial scale effluent treatment plants
• Preferred: Experience in multiple unit operations within effluent treatment plants, including process stability, chemical dosing, solids handling, sludge management, reagent performance and understanding of discharge requirements
