Job description

Join to apply for the Principal Engineer, I and O - DevOps role at Healthfirst.

The Principal Engineer, Infrastructure and Operations plays a key role in driving Healthfirst's cloud and operational excellence strategy. This role involves managing enterprise solutions across public and private clouds, automating system deployment, and establishing standards for cloud usage. The Principal Engineer serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing technical leadership and collaborating with or leading engineering teams to develop reliable, automated solutions that improve efficiency and resiliency.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Support private/public cloud systems, operating systems, middleware, storage, database platforms, and other infrastructure components.
  2. Provide coaching and guidance to the I&O Engineering team.
  3. Support and onboard CI/CD pipelines for applications.
  4. Document and improve DevOps processes.
  5. Analyze and resolve complex technical issues as a SME.
  6. Develop automation to enhance operational capabilities.
  7. Implement solutions to prevent recurrence of issues, supporting hybrid cloud infrastructure.
  8. Contribute to cloud usage standards within a Center of Excellence.
  9. Maintain an accurate inventory of infrastructure components.
  10. Ensure cloud usage complies with governance, security, and operational standards.
  11. Create SOPs for operational teams.
  12. Act as a senior escalation point for incident resolution and participate in on-call rotations.
  13. Lead in cloud technology and automation initiatives with development teams.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Experience managing Linux/Unix and Windows systems.
  • Extensive cloud experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.
  • Experience in I&O engineering, including cloud technologies.
  • Proficiency in scripting with BASH, Python, and/or PowerShell.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools and automation.
  • Ability to identify and automate repeatable processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical degree or equivalent work experience.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
  • GCP/Nutanix Certification.
  • Experience in a Cloud Center of Excellence.
  • Proficiency with cloud formation, Ansible, Terraform.
  • Support for Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD.
  • Experience with database services and cloud security best practices.
  • Deep troubleshooting skills involving logs, network traces, and automation tools.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications.
  • Support for cloud-native application development.
  • Knowledge of system health monitoring and SRE principles.
  • Experience in high-security/regulatory environments (PCI, HIPAA, HITRUST).
