Job summary

Elevance Health in Walnut Creek is seeking a Principal Engineer - FDE to lead the overall applications architecture for a multi-product environment. Qualifications

• Requires a BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field and a minimum of 11 years experience; or an equivalent background.
• Experience with multi dimensional platforms, and business and technical applications.
• Equivalent background via combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Establish the overall applications architecture vision for a multi-product environment and ensure components are appropriately designed.

Hybrid:

This role requires associates to be in-office 3 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace. Alternate locations may be considered if candidates reside within a commuting distance from an office.

How you will make an impact:

• Works with stakeholders to establish the overall applications architecture vision and ensures specific components are appropriately designed and leveraged in a multi-product environment.
• Recommends new technology solutions and products are delivered to stakeholders and align with enterprise strategic objectives.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and technology to define business requirements.

• Oversee the technical design reviews and testing to architectural technologies for application solutions and products meet business requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

• Requires a BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study, and a minimum of 11 years experience; experience with multi dimensional platforms, and business and technical applications required; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences :

• Experience mentoring others, driving teams to achieve results, leading multiple and/or large complex technical projects, and providing troubleshooting support.
• Multi database and/or multi language.
• Experience owning the end-to-end technical mission-translating an ambiguous business problem into a working production solution, from architecture and rapid prototyping through integration, testing, deployment, and stabilization.
• Hands-on technical leader-designing and building across AI, applications, APIs, data, cloud, and legacy platforms while guiding other FDEs and federated engineering partners.
• Experience engineering trust and production readiness from day one-embedding security, privacy, compliance, evaluations, observability, human oversight, and reliability into the solution rather than treating them as late-stage approvals.
• Experience turning field delivery into reusable enterprise capability-converting mission learnings into reusable components, integration patterns, evaluation packs, development standards, and platform backlog enhancements that make subsequent missions faster and less expensive.

For candidates working in person or virtually in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is $ 218,208.00 - 272,760.00. USD Annual
