GlobalFoundries is seeking a Principal Facilities Specialty Gas Engineer in Essex to lead operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of bulk and specialty gas systems used in semiconductor manufacturing.

You will mentor technicians, manage capital projects, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and partner with manufacturing to optimize gas delivery, monitoring, and process support. Strong communication and project management are essential.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in engineering from an accredited program.
  • 5 years high-purity gas experience or related manufacturing environment.
  • Fluency in English with strong communication.
  • Ability to support continuous manufacturing operations during off hours.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical interface between Facilities and manufacturing customers to ensure reliable gas delivery and process support.
  • Monitor system performance, capacity, and reliability to meet current and future manufacturing demands.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for gas distribution, purification, monitoring, and control systems while driving root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Identify and execute process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, reliability, quality, and cost performance.
  • Support manufacturing operations through process monitoring, equipment performance analysis, and rapid response to system issues.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, engineering standards, operating procedures, and maintenance strategies.
  • Lead system modifications, expansions, and capital projects including design reviews, performance analysis, startup support, and commissioning activities.
  • Apply sound engineering principles and industry best practices to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable operation of specialty gas systems.
  • Provide technical training, mentoring, and operational support to facilities technicians, engineers, and operations personnel.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, regulatory, and company requirements related to specialty gas systems and hazardous materials management.

Responsible for providing technical leadership in the operation, maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement of bulk and specialty gas systems that support semiconductor manufacturing.
