Job summary

Verizon is seeking a Principal Engineer- Systems Architecture within the Enterprise Network Solutions team to drive architecture, innovation, and high-impact deployment across enterprise verticals including Sports & Venues, Healthcare, Media, and Manufacturing.

You will lead end-to-end wireless architectures (4G/5G, MEC, Private Wireless, IP routing, RF design), work with enterprise customers and partners to architect, validate, and scale premier solutions, and guide field trials and deployments

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 4+ years of work experience.
• Six or more years of relevant experience.
• Experience in wireless networking, architecture, or systems integration.
• Experience leading large-scale network architecture projects.
• Expertise with 4G/5G core, MEC, IP routing, RF design, and edge/private networks.

What you'll be doing...

As a Principal Engineer- Systems Architecture part of the Enterprise Network Solutions team within the Business Product Engineering organization you will be responsible for driving architecture, innovation, and high-impact deployment across diverse enterprise verticals-including Sports & Venues, Department of Defense (DOD), Healthcare, Media, and Manufacturing.

You will be responsible for the following but not limited to:

• Leading projects related to advanced enterprise use-case solutions on private and public wireless networks.
• Contributing to technology roadmapping, intellectual property ideation, and defining standardized deployment architectures across emerging focus areas.
• Working with enterprise customers, technology partners, product leadership, and system integrators to architect, validate, and scale high-value solutions on Verizon's network assets. Leading end-to-end lab and field trials of emerging network technologies-including rapid/portable kit deployment, RF and core integration, data collection, and performance reporting.
• Designing and engineering infrastructure for critical trial scenarios, lead complex remote or rapid-response deployments, and establish kit standards, support requirements, and deployment best practices.
• Engaging directly with enterprise clients and high-profile stakeholders to solve complex connectivity and operational insights and bringing those insights back into the business, collaborating across Technology & Product Development (TPD), Network Operations, Verizon Business Group (VBG), and executive leadership to build cohesive, monetizable solutions and drive continuous product innovation and revenue growth.

What we're looking for...

You will have a deep technical background in end-to-end wireless architectures (4G/5G, MEC, Private Wireless, IP routing, RF design) combined with hands-on integration expertise across complex field and enterprise environments. You bring a track record of innovation-whether through defining architecture, authoring IP/patents, or operationalizing emerging capabilities. You are equally comfortable getting hands on to configure equipment and presenting to customers and internal leadership. You excel under pressure.

You'll need to have:

• Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
• Experience in wireless networking, network architecture, or systems integration and understanding of end-to-end wireless architectures, mobile network assets, and enterprise connectivity solutions.
• Experience leading large-scale network architecture or integration projects.
• Expertise with 4G/5G core networks, MEC, IP routing, RF design, and edge/private network deployments.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% or less of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience with Private Wireless Networks (PWN), portable/mobile network kits, or rapid-deployment network infrastructure.
• Experience in rapid field prototyping, proof-of-concepts, or managing end-to-end technology trials.
• Familiarity with Private Breakout (PBO), network slicing, or AI-driven network capacity management and real-time optimization.
• Experience across multiple enterprise verticals such as Defense/DOD, Healthcare, Media/Broadcast, Sports & Venues, or Manufacturing.
• Proven track record of innovation, patent filings, or defining scalable, productized technical standards.
• Experience in real-time video streaming/production, edge computing, or specialized industry protocol integration.
• Expertise in mentoring and technical leadership skills to scale team capabilities and field operations expertise.
• Experience in building strong relationships with enterprise customers, technical partners, and cross-functional leadership.
• Possess verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to executive stakeholders.
