Job summary

Uber is seeking a full-stack Principal Engineer to shape the strategy and technology for Uber Eats and beyond. You will own the long-term technical vision for the presentation platform, guiding backend, native mobile code, and webviews within an in-house hybrid-native architecture.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• Experience owning tech strategy, end-to-end delivery, and partnering with senior leadership.
• Proven ability to provide technical and strategic oversight for a high-performing global team of hundreds of engineers.
• Subject matter expertise in client-side technologies (Web, iOS, and/or Android) and presentational backends.

Responsibilities

• Architect and drive the long-term technical vision and roadmap for our presentation platform architecture.
• Lead the design and implementation of novel systems spanning backend, native mobile code and webviews in our hybrid-native architecture.
• Challenge technical conventions while optimizing for low-latency server-driven UX.
• Explore Generative UI opportunities to reshape customer experiences.
• Spearhead cross-functional projects requiring alignment across engineering orgs.
• Build foundational platforms/tools enabling rapid prototyping and scaling of customer-facing experiences.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to senior engineers across the org.
• Solve complex distributed-system challenges supporting thousands of microservices and client-side developers.
• Influence Uber Eats consumer experience with Design & Product leadership.
