Mastercard is seeking a Principal Engineer (Architecture) to lead the architecture and design of MDES services, defining regional distribution and localization for a highly scalable payments platform. You will partner with Product and Engineering, mentor teams, review designs, and drive best practices in code quality, security, and continuous delivery across our enterprise-grade payment applications.

The ideal candidate has deep Java/Spring expertise, experience with microservices in cloud

Competenze

• Hands-on expert in Core Java, Spring Boot, and Spring (MVC, IOC, AOP, Security).
• Strong SQL and RDBMS experience (Oracle, PostgreSQL).
• NoSQL experience with Cassandra; messaging with Kafka; Zookeeper familiarity.
• Experience with microservices and cloud deployment (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Proficient in IDEs (IntelliJ/Eclipse), UML tools, Git, and CI/CD.

Overview

The MDES team is looking for a Technical Architect (Principal, Software Development Engineer) who can lead Architecture and Design of MDES Services and define regional distribution / localization design for MDES. The ideal candidate is the one who is passionate about leading software development, driving engineering practices & technically mentoring team members for a highly scalable, highly available enterprise grade payment application.

Role

• Lead platform / solution architecture design addressing all non-functional requirements
• Work closely with Product Management and Engineering Team to come up high level design
• Develop critical components whenever required and create proof of concepts for new/unknown use cases/ideas
• Conduct code reviews, is responsible for overall code quality, Coach and mentor less experienced team members
• Write and review Design Documentation whenever required
• Do SCM Operations – branching, merging, tagging, conflict resolution
• Study upcoming technologies and identify how they can be used to improve existing solution
• Comply with organizations processes. Policies and protects organization’s Intellectual property. Also, participate in organization level process improvement and knowledge sharing

All About You

Essential knowledge, skills & attributes

• Experience of technically leading at least one scrum team in terms of assisting Product Manager in refining the features and stories, doing low level design, doing code review, troubleshooting team’s issues, guiding & mentoring team members
• Hands on experience and expert on working with core Java, Spring Boot, Spring (MVC, IOC, AOP, Security), SQL, RDBMS (Oracle and PostGRES), NoSQL (Cassandra), Web-services (JSON and SOAP), Kafka, Zookeeper
• Hands on experience of developing microservice application & deploying them on any one of the public cloud like Google, AWS, Azure
• Hands on experience of using Intellij/Eclipse/My Eclipse IDE, UML tools (MS Visio, PlantUML)
• Hands on experience of writing Junit test cases, working with Maven/Ant/Gradle, GIT
• Experience of working with Agile methodologies.
• Personal attributes are strong logical and Analytical Skills, design skills, should be able to articulate and present his/her thoughts very clearly and precisely in English (written and verbal)
• Knowledge of Design Patterns
• Knowledge of Security concepts (E.g. authentication, authorization, confidentiality etc.) and protocols, their usage in enterprise application

Additional/Desirable capabilities

• Experience of working in Payments application Domain
• Hands on experience of working with tools like Mockito, JBehave, Jenkins, Bamboo, Confluence, Rally

Compensation philosophy

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
