Job summary

LKC Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead software development across the organization from its Germantown, MD location.

This role drives architecture decisions for embedded platforms, real-time control, image/video processing, and secure connectivity for medical devices like RETeval. You will mentor engineers and collaborate with hardware, regulatory, and clinical teams to deliver robust, scalable software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including embedded systems.
• Experience delivering complex software from concept through production.
• Experience with image acquisition, video processing, or machine vision.
• Experience implementing real-time systems with microsecond timing.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++.
• Experience collaborating with hardware teams throughout product development.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the senior software technical authority for LKC Technologies.
• Lead technology decisions for embedded platforms, OS, tools, and software frameworks.
• Partner with cross-functional teams including hardware, optical, systems, clinical, quality, and regulatory.
• Mentor software engineers and promote high standards for design, testing, and code quality.
• Lead architecture and development of a new internet-connected embedded medical device platform.
• Design solutions to capture, process, analyze, and manage image/video data.
• Develop real-time control systems with precise timing, including microsecond-level timing.
• Establish software development infrastructure with automated testing and deployment.
