Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead safety-critical avionics software development across DO-178B/C DAL A/C/D systems. You will drive real-time embedded software in C and C++, guide architecture and design, and collaborate across Systems, Hardware, Software, Verification, and Certification teams on certification activities.

The role requires strong leadership, deep experience in embedded development, and a track record of delivering

Qualifications

STEM degree with 8+ years of experience or an advanced degree with 5+ years of experience.
Experience with safety-critical avionics software across DO-178B/C DAL A/C/D systems.
Strong embedded software development using C and C++ and across the full software development lifecycle.
Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical efforts and drive issues to resolution across engineering disciplines.
Experience with hardware/software and system-level integration.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership for design, development, integration, verification, and certification of safety-critical embedded avionics software.
Design, develop, integrate, test, and support real-time embedded software primarily in C/C++ to meet requirements.
Develop software architecture and detailed designs based on system requirements.
Lead resolution of complex technical issues and coordinate root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Lead and participate in software requirements, design and code reviews.
