Job summary

LKC Technologies, based in Germantown, Maryland, seeks a Principal Software Engineer to lead software architecture for a new medical technology platform and to evolve the RETeval product portfolio.

The role requires hands-on work designing embedded systems that acquire and process video data, with microsecond-level timing and secure connectivity development. You will partner with hardware, clinical, quality, and regulatory teams across concept to commercialization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience including embedded systems.
• Experience designing and delivering complex software products from concept to production.
• Experience in image acquisition, video processing, or machine vision.
• Experience with real-time systems and microsecond-level timing.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and embedded software architecture.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the senior software technical authority for LKC Technologies.
• Lead embedded platform technology decisions and software architecture.
• Collaborate with hardware, optical, systems, clinical, quality, and regulatory teams.
• Mentor software engineers and set design, documentation, testing, and code quality standards.
• Develop real-time control systems with microsecond timing requirements.
• Architect secure connectivity and software lifecycle management strategies.
• Support system design reviews, verification, validation, and regulatory activities.
• Contribute to enhancements and maintenance of RETeval and related tools.
