Overview

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking for a Principal Electronics Engineer / Senior Principal Electronics Engineer – Infrastructure & Security Lead to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within Research and Advanced Design’s Battle Management operating unit. This role is located in El Segundo, CA.

Key Program Responsibilities
  • Design and implement identity‑access‑management, role‑based access control, and zero‑trust security architecture for a portable C2 system.
  • Deploy logging, log aggregation, and monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Syslog) to support forensic analysis and system health.
  • Manage mobile‑device management, license/subscription tracking, and system‑status dashboards across laptops, tablets, and rugged equipment.
  • Coordinate with the Networking Architect to embed encryption, anti‑tamper, zeroize, and BLOS security controls.
Principal Electronics Engineer Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and at least 5 years of related professional/military engineering experience; or Master’s degree in STEM and at least 3 years of experience; or Ph.D. and at least 1 year of experience.
  • Cybersecurity and infrastructure operations for DoD or classified environments.
  • Hands‑on experience with MFA, IAM platforms (Azure AD, Okta), MDM solutions (Intune, MobiControl), and logging/monitoring suites.
  • Proven ability to implement secure, scalable infrastructure supporting rapid software integration and continuous deployment.
  • Knowledge of BLOS communications security, TACLANE, and anti‑tamper requirements.
  • Active US Government Secret clearance (within the past 6 years or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
Senior Principal Electronics Engineer Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and at least 8 years of related professional/military engineering experience; or Master’s degree in STEM and at least 6 years of experience; or Ph.D. and at least 4 years of experience.
  • All qualifications required for the Principal Electronics Engineer role.
  • Prior clearance to a Special Access Program (SAP) or Special Compartmentalized Information (SCI).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance with recent background investigation or enrollment in Continuous Evaluation.
  • Prior clearance to a Special Access Program (SAP) or Special Compartmentalized Information (SCI).
  • Knowledge of DoD Cyber requirements, RMF, and associated solutions.
  • Active or prior IAT Level II certification (Security+).
  • Experience configuring, installing, and maintaining encryption devices (TACLANE).
Compensation & Benefits

Primary salary range: $114,000 – $171,000. Secondary salary range: $142,200 – $213,400. Employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and long‑term incentives. Benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plan, and paid time off.

Travel & Work Location

Full‑time, on‑site at the El Segundo, CA facility. Travel up to 25% may be required. No remote or hybrid telework available for this position.

Citizenship & Clearance

U.S. citizenship is required for all positions with a government clearance and certain other restricted positions. Must have an active US Government Secret clearance.
