Position Overview

The Principal Electrical Engineer specializes in electronic central catalog management, including electrical component footprints, signal integrity modeling, DMS management, component engineering, and PCB layout for high-speed digital and analog designs. This role supports EE teams across all ESA sites, providing technical guidance throughout the design process.

Responsibilities
  1. Provide technical support during all design phases, focusing on signal and power integrity and electromagnetic compliance.
  2. Assist in defining PCB layout specifications, including stack-up, trace widths, and impedances, collaborating with design teams and external providers.
  3. Analyze PCB designs using ANSYS & Mentor Graphics SI/HFSS for potential issues and perform EMI analysis.
  4. Maintain and develop SI model libraries within Mentor EDM and ANSYS environments.
  5. Support component engineering, including schematic symbol and footprint creation, DMS reports, and services, using tools like Si Expert and Accuris.
  6. Lead the implementation and training of Siemens EDM software, developing related processes and procedures.
  7. Manage software tools and licenses, including Mentor Graphics Expedition, Siemens EDM, and ANSYS HFSS/SIWave.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering with 9+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree with 7+ years.
  • Training in ESD and Safety within the first year of employment.
Skills and Abilities
  • Extensive experience with ECAD tools such as Mentor Graphics Expedition/EDM, Cadence, or Altium.
  • Proficiency with Mentor Graphics schematic capture and library tools.
  • Effective communication skills within a dynamic team environment.
  • Knowledge of electronic manufacturing processes and high-density packaging techniques.
Travel and Physical Requirements
  • Approximately 10% travel (~2-3 trips/year).
