Job description

Are you passionate about shaping the future of humanity’s presence in space? Lunar Outpost, an industry leader in space robotics and planetary vehicles, invites you to join our team! Lunar Outpost is dedicated to creating a permanent presence in space, while also driving positive impacts here on Earth. This position focuses on the architecture, design, and integration of high-voltage power distribution, conditioning, protection, and control systems supporting energy storage systems, motor-driven loads, and vehicle subsystems.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in high-voltage, high-power electrical systems and thrives in a hands‑on development environment where architectural thinking and detailed hardware execution are equally important.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leader in the architecture, design, and development of the LTV Electrical Power System (EPS) and vehicle power electronics
  • Design and analyze 120V-class high-voltage power distribution, conditioning, protection, and control circuits, including switching devices, current sensing, insulation monitoring, fault management, and power distribution architectures.
  • Own electrical hardware development from concept through flight, including requirements development, architecture definition, schematic capture, PCB layout, design reviews, test, and integration
  • Develop vehicle-level power architectures supporting batteries, motor drives, power conversion, energy storage, charging interfaces, and mission-critical loads
  • Lead design efforts addressing motor-driven loads, regenerative braking energy management, transient suppression, back‑EMF protection, and power quality
  • Perform trade studies and technical evaluations balancing performance, reliability, safety, mass, schedule, and cost
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical, thermal, software, systems, and harnessing teams to ensure robust electrical system integration
  • Perform PCB layout with attention to creepage, clearance, EMI/EMC performance, thermal management, high-current routing, and manufacturability
  • Develop analyses supporting power budgets, efficiency, thermal performance, fault response, derating, and system reliability
  • Support hardware bring‑up, troubleshooting, verification testing, EMI/EMC testing, environmental testing, and vehicle integration activities
  • Define electrical requirements and verification approaches for high-voltage and high-power subsystems
  • Interface with suppliers and partners on power electronics, energy storage systems, motors, electromechanical devices, and related hardware
  • Provide technical leadership during system design reviews, flight readiness reviews, customer reviews, and technical interchange meetings
  • Mentor electrical engineers across the organization and help establish best practices for high-voltage power system development
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field
  • Minimum of 12 years of professional experience designing high-voltage or high-power electrical systems
  • Demonstrated experience developing power electronics, power distribution systems, motor control systems, electric vehicles, aerospace power systems, industrial power systems, or other safety-critical electrical hardware
  • Strong experience with electrical system architecture, schematic design, and hardware development for power applications
  • Hands‑on experience designing systems operating at 100VDC or greater
  • Experience with high-current power distribution, protection schemes, fault detection, isolation, and power switching devices
